“Zoom Out” to Understand The Big Picture . . .

Astronauts report that the experience of seeing planet earth from space, as a tiny fragile ball, makes them aware of their deeper sense of connection to all other life on earth.

That we are part of something bigger.

Pedro Berrocoso shared a wonderful post last week that really raised the game on so many of the discussions we are having about “shifting left” for a better understanding of “end to end” processes.

The truth is, we need to Zoom Out to fully appreciate the interconnectedness of our activities, customers, processes, suppliers, partners, business units and functions.

Taking a step back and seeing business processes from a wider perspective tends to lead to smarter innovation, a better customer experience and a more impactful outcomes.

Pedro highlights 5 ways in which a Zoom Out can encourage a step change in our approach and effectiveness, to;

◾️𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀

◾️𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

◾️𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

◾️𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

◾️𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀

Maybe we, like astronauts, benefit from the profound psychological shift in awareness towards the bigger picture.

To paraphrase last week’s note, it might help us become the Lucky Generals.
